JSF Art Center

JSF Art Center is an online art gallery that is dedicated to helping Haitian artists get exposure through online
exhibition. It operates on the belief that promoting Haitian art can be a productive and life-changing
opportunity for Haitian artists who can gain recognition both at a local and international scale.

By preserving and promoting Haiti’s artistic heritage, JSF Art Center plays a key role in advertising Haitian art via its website. Its collection features original works by well-known artists such as Philippe Claude, Albott Bonhomme, Jackson Day, Jean Ricardo and Joseph Domond, Jonas Exumé, Samuel Vixama, Bitho Faustin, Roberson Joseph, les Frères Tintin: Jean-Patrick, Jean-René, Gino and Eddy.

Haitian artist, Jonas Exumé was born in Pétion-Ville. He was only 8 years when he decided to follow in the footsteps of his uncle, the great master René Exumé. He has worked with several great artists such as Carel Blain, Françoise Jean, his cousin Lesly Exumé.

Jean-René Tintin studied at the Ecole Nationale des Arts. He paints filiform figures. His images are surrealist and his favorite subjects touch on scenes of everyday life. He finds his source of inspiration in Haitian culture.

Eddy Tintin studied at the National School of Arts. His paintings highlight the voodoo motif. He originally neglected voodoo scenes in his pictorial work. Today, he has come to understand that he must return to his roots to explore the richness of our heritage. The artist was influenced by the School of Beauty. Over time, the artist moved towards clearer and more structured forms. Today, he joins the surrealist movement.

Eddy Tintin

Gino Tintin, born in Port-au-Prince on February 20, 1973, is the youngest of the family. His style is essentially based on lines. He creates fully original works linked to surrealism. He draws inspiration from music to paint. This is why musical instruments are present in his work. He deals with subjects related to voodoo. Many voodoo scenes show possession crises like the painting titled "Eucharist". Gino Tintin uses painting to express his moods and emotions.

Born on January 8, 1954, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Philippe Claude studied art under the master Rene Exume at the Foyer des Arts Plastiques from 1971 to 1974. He focuses on realism in his paintings and uses vivid colors. He is often compared to Franck Louissaint. Claude has exhibited internationally and is well appreciated by many art collectors.

Joseph Ernst Domond was born in Port-au-Prince on July 3, 1969. At a very young age, he showed a remarkable gift for drawing. Besides the brush, the knife was the medium he used. Joseph Ernst Domond did his artistic studies at the National School of the Arts (ENARTS) École Nationale des Arts. He began painting in 1980, influenced by Jacques Ernst Domond has exhibited his works in places such as the Queens Museum, Museum of Contemporary African Diaspora Art (MOCADA), Duke University, Harvard University, Black Expo, Caribbean Arts Gallery (Boston). JOSEPH ERNST DOMOND

Born on March 6, 1977, Jackson Day started to paint when he was twenty years old. He began painting with Lesly Exume, who was his teacher. After a while, he painted alone. Jackson’s style is primitive, mixing imagination and movement. His work portrays group bands, dancing in the streets before Easter. He also paints voodoo ceremony and market scenes.

Albott Bonhomme was born under the dual sign of the sea and the tropical forest of the North West region, in 1963, at Baie des Moustiques. First, he grew up to be a fisher, and he lived in an intensive harmony with nature. Bonhomme originally started his career by painting sea related-objects and portraits. Later on, he developed his own personal technique of research on drawing maps. In 1990, he has begun his career as a painter. He has focused on describing the movement of the birds living in the luxurious environment surrounded by vegetation. Nature has followed him and embraced him. It has chosen him to be a creator of a work of great value.

Raphael Sagage is a contemporary visual artist who uses vibrant colors and bold shapes to express his ideas about life, love, and the human experience. His artwork explores themes of identity, culture, and spirituality, often incorporating elements of nature and traditional symbolism. As a self-taught artist, Raphael has developed a unique style that blends traditional techniques with a modern sensibility, creating pieces that are both timeless and timely.

Sandra Dessalines is a Haitian painter and visual artist. Sandra studied agricultural engineering, which she completed in Toulouse. In 2010, after the earthquake that destroyed the capital of Haiti and its surroundings, she decided to practice sculpture using papier-mâché. Her artistic work consists of discovering the turbulent history of Haiti, but also of bringing to light its Africanists.
